Sydney Royal Easter Show was a great success for many of the Shorthorn Youth members. It was wonderful to look out into the arena and see so many Shorthorn animals representing the feature breed being led by past and present members of the SYCA. In every class of the State Final Paraders competition there was at least one shorthorn animal being paraded. Many of the SYCA members competed and placed well. To mention a few competitors Heidi Morris, Kylie Schuller, Lauren Eather and students from Calrossy and William Cowper and Kinross Wolaroi Schools.

The show runs a heifer show which allows the under 25's to compete against all other breeds. The youth was well represented and we also had some pleasing results. Luke Collins received Champion Breed and Owned heifer. Lauren and Caitlin Eather's bull placed 3rd in its class in the Shorthorn Judging and Caitlin placed 4th in both paraders and junior judging and Lauren received 3rd place in her paraders class. Many others competed were also successful, Greg Schuller, students from Calrossy, and Glen and Eric Squires to mention a few. Brett Ridley's Bull was awarded Intermediate Reserve Senior Champion Bull. Many of our members were also involved with the Steer Competition and the Shorthorns were well represented with some excellent steers being shown.

For the forth year running the Max O'Keeffe memorial handlers class was run during Shorthorn judging. Every year the number of competitors increases which is excellent and very encouraging for the youth club. The class was kindly sponsored by Yamburgan Shorthorns and Outback Shorthorn Studs The Youth would like to thank all the breeders for their support and the especially the Manchee and Schuller Families for their generous donations. The winner of the class was Kylie Schuller, 2nd place was Brett Ridley and Emma Williams placed 3rd.

Eric and Glen Squires, Brett Ridley and Lisa Glasson represented the Youth club in the State Final Junior Judging competition. Erin and Brett were lucky enough to be called up to speak with Brett Ridley placing fourth. Congratulations to all who competed in these competitions.

Krystelle Ridley our current SYCA President competed in the Miss Show Girl Competition and we would like to congratulate her on reaching the Top 10.

A promotional PowerPoint Presentation and Video were played during the show along with a photo display informing other young people in the industry of the benefits of participating in our youth club and the fun we have. We hope this leads to new members joining us for the Heifer Show in October 2007.

The Shorthorn Youth Club would like to thank all the sponsors and all the breeders for their continued support, we are extremely grateful and we couldn't do what we do without you all.
