The Turanville Partnership, Scone was the toast of the Shorthorn breed on Tuesday evening when the Sydney Royal Easter Show carcass awards were presented.
The Turanville Shorthorn stud was awarded two gold medals for both the Champion Middleweight carcass and Reserve Champion Middleweight carcass with steers placed fourth and fifth respectively in their classes on the hoof.
The Champion steer, prepared by St.Gregory's College, scored 91.5 points to beat his stablemate by .5 point. Placed 4th in class 10, the Champion also finished 3rd in the 'taste test' pointscore for the class.
The Reserve Champion was judged 5th in class 12 on the hoof and an extraordinary 108 scm eye muscle area at 12 months of age catapulted the steer to take the reserve award.
The Shorthorn team finished an extremely creditable 3rd in the Stan Hill Trophy, behind the European terminal breeds Limousin and Charolais and 16 points clear of the Angus team of three.
