The 2009 National Shorthorn Youth Expo was held from the 3rd-5th October 2009 at the Wagga Wagga Showgrounds. This year's Expo was kindly Sponsored by Broome Shorthorns, Jerilderie. 64 members aged from 5 to 25 competed over the three days. Some of the major highlights are listed below:
Grand Final Heifer Draw
The Major prize of the show is a stud heifer kindly donated by the Leeds family of Broome Shorthorns, Jereilderie. Emily Eather won this heifer.
Sprys Foundation Heifer
Kindly donated by the Spry family, this heifer was won by Helen DeCosta. The heifer was donated in order to provide an opportunity for a youth member who doesn't have their own stud or their parents don't have a stud, to start breeding shorthorn cattle.
